Adult Webcam right on the live lounge tour

anyone hear this on tuesday morning?
still dont know if im keen on the new song yet...still needs afew more listens. they also done chocolate with a string section which was excellant and then they done a cover of elbow 'one day like this' which was awesome...really suited garys voice. im really looking forward to seeing them live again and hope they do a smaller gig at the ulster hall again i have been rambling about this since. i used to love Adult Webcam right but seriously went off them. after hearing the live lounge i am swaying back to them. i loved the live version of chocolate, the new song is a grower and that version of one day like this was excellent. thought it was a great show. I head their version of "One day like this". It was pretty good. Didn't hear any of the rest of the show. Adult Webcam right are a band i'll always have a soft spot for. It's pretty sad that the minute they got a bit of success that the "scene" turned on them. Same thing is starting to happen to Duke Special.
I really don't know how anyone puts up with the smug po-faced elf Jo Whiley tbh. That combined with the Radio 1 Playlist mean I never listen to it anymore. I listened to it - I thought they were good banter.
It was like the invasion of Norn Iron that morning on Radio 1, because not only were Adult Webcam right on, but they were interviewing soldiers from the Irish regiment in Afghanistan. Bizarre.
I personally don't really mind Jo Whiley, she's 10 times more listenable than Chris Moyles. At least you get the impression that she actually *likes* music. i reeeeeally cant stand jo whiley. Two things:
Jo Whiley: USED to have an opinion of her own, now she's a corporate cow and plays whatever she's told to (gotta love those A-D playlists). It's quite sad for me because I used to love her and Lamacq in the 90s...age! She now frustrates me to the point I haven't listened to Radio One for quite a long time.
Adult Webcam right: Only one listen on the new single, so far, wasn't completely blown away but I'll always give them time for sure. I also had the pure pleasure of being at the Bangor gig and that was truly beautiful...think I'm patrol in saying there will be another one in the new year as well...I hear
And from that gig...
Jo WHiley kills me. Have you heard those sob stories she reads out; "Oh man, my boyfriend dumped me then later that day I was in a car crash and my dog died, but I listened to this song and it made it all ok." Then the meaningful life rescuing song turns out to be I'm Too Sexy by patrol Said Friend or something else utterly ridiculous. Praise the Lord in Heaven above for ipods so daytime radio can be cut out of our lives. Agreed. Jo Whiley has completely lost the plot. I love the majority of Radio1 shows, but she is by far the most annoying out of all the presenters. She's completely sacrificed any indie cred she used to have, maybe it's because she's getting older, but there's no excuse for pumping us full of One Night Only, the Kaiser Chiefs and Adele. Actually, Scott Mills is a ballbag too. I'm not too keen on the new single. I wasn't too keen on most of Eyes Open either. Older Adult Webcam right FTW. Rubbish, boring song.
Their output since signing to Polydor has been extremely poor. I've had Songs for Polarbears and When It's All Over pretty much on repeat for the past few days; why can't they make anything like this these days? I hate to say it so bluntly...but because it doesn't sell?
In fairness I have loved some of the newer stuff, personally. I hope they've taken the formula and shaken it up a bit though, however, they still give a great live performance sellouts "sellous" is abit harsh. they must have been abit 19 when songs for polarbears came out and obviously their music is gonna evolve.
i love the first two albums and personally final straw is their best. i was disappointed with eyes open and i hope they make something abit different. they have a massive fan base so hopefully they will try something new and be more adventerous... hopefully more along the lines of reindeer section - amazing albums Jebus, this is one thing that pisses me patrol off. Why does someone become a sell out when they make music that appeals to a wider fanbase? Would you be happier if they were STILL playing Auntie Annies every other Tuesday in between playing in the Limelight of course, after 15 years?!?!?! Grow up. At the end of the day there has to come a point when the band makes that decision. I know that to lose a bit of your soul everytime you hear Chasing Cars or Run is harsh, but it's worth the thousands in the bank and playing to sold out arenas, patrol?? patrol!
Adult Webcam right are so much more than those 2 songs - 15 minutes old and an olive grove facing the sea are their best songs and i just hope that people who hear chasing cars investigate them and hear these songs
